First Pastor - M. Seibert 1886-1887

 

1887 - Ground for Zion Church Cemetery purchased for $125.00

- Mrs. E. Dieckman was the first to be buried there.

 

Prior to 1916, a German school was conducted each spring for 6 weeks to teach German and religion.

 

1910 - A small basement was dug and the first furnace was installed.

 

1914 - The original reed organ was replaced with a pipe organ.  The present pipe organ was intalled in 1949.

 

In 1917, the ladies Aid Society was formed.  Another organization the Loyal Workers was formed later.  The two merged in 1944 to become the Women's Guild.

 

1925 - Electric lights were installed in the church and parsonage.

 

1931- A new parsonage was built for $4200.00

1953 - The first Vacation Bible School was held that year.

 

1985 - The 100th Anniversary of the church began in October with the opening of the cornerstone.  It concluded in October of 1986 with the closing of the cornerstone.
